Job Summary
The Advanced Product Development team develops transformative battery designs and novel product concepts to speed global energy decarbonization. Your focus as a Battery Pack Engineer will be on going from component and architecture concepts through in-vehicle PoC/validation of high-performance EV packs based on internal and customer-driven development programs. Beyond that, you’ll lead integrated pack engineering for Our Next Energy’s advanced product concepts, which go beyond batteries alone. You will work on all levels of the design, from high-level system architecture to demonstration and product engineering hand-off.
We are looking for passionate engineers who share our values. Our team is comprised of various integrated disciplines, including mechanical, structural, thermal, electrical, and software. Therefore, collaboration in group settings, ability to solve system integration challenges, and clear communication are valuable to becoming a successful team member.
You should enjoy working on a small team where you will own substantial and critical parts of the final product. We are working on groundbreaking technologies, so you’ll be energetic, adaptable, and a fast learner who can make quick design judgments with limited information. As a founding member of this group, you will also play a crucial role in growing the team to meet continuously evolving challenges.

Leads advanced engineering pack mechanical fabrication, assembly, and debug activities to ensure successful delivery
Designs integration of high-voltage electrical elements including bus bars and power electronics, and ensure electrical isolation of same
Identifies areas of risk and work quickly to prototype and mitigate these
Engages with component suppliers to specify and acquire quotes
Performs 3D design and GD&T drawings of complex parts and assemblies
Optimizes designs via analytical, numerical, and/or empirical assessments
Integrates seamlessly with both the vehicle and advanced cell architectures
Performs self-guided R&D around novel pack structures and mechanical design
Performs any additional duties as assigned
Within 3 months you will:
Supports design and fabrication of a prototype next-generation battery pack
Helps develop test setups to iterate on and validate designs
Supports pack safety and thermal design and testing
Takes ownership of the design, fabrication, and testing of subsystem components
Develops internal design tools and capabilities to accelerate future projects
Becomes familiar with the ONE team and established products
Within 6 months you will:
Takes ownership of advanced pack mechanical design
Collaborates with other system disciplines to plan and execute overall project delivery
Guides high-level design discussions for our current and future product concepts
