Job Summary

The CAD Administrator will be responsible for managing CAD software packages, developing CAD standards, owning the product management systems, defining document workflows, trains users on designed software, and assists in the design and drafting activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join a brilliant engineering team to work on current and disruptive technologies. They will collaborate directly with the lead engineers and will report to the Director of Pack Engineering.

  • Leads mechanical CAD design team for current and next generation high-voltage battery components.

  • Manages CAD workloads of the design team.

  • Selects, installs, and maintains the PDM/PLM system for our CAD system (SolidWorks).

  • Develops and maintains drawing formats.

  • Creates detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.

  • Performs GD&T tolerance stack-up analyses.

  • Performs drawing checking for the design team.

  • Performs any additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Proven proficiency in mechanical design, both independently and in collaboration with others.

  • Demonstrable expertise in mechanical CAD: 3D modeling.2D drafting

  • 5+ years in in automotive mechanical design.

  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software.

  • Experience with installation and maintenance of PDM/PLM systems.

  • Fundamental understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T principals and application.

  • General understanding of mechanical part fabrication methods (e.g., machining, stamping, extrusion, welding, injection molding, casting, etc.).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to delivery projects efficiently and on time.

Preferred education & skills

  • Associates degree in a technical field.

  • Experience in the design of automotive Li-Ion traction batteries.

  • Excellent proficiency with ASME Y14.5 GD&T principals and application.

  • Working knowledge and experience performing assembly tolerance stackups.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time 40 hours and generally scheduled Monday through Friday 9am-6pm

  • Flexible work schedule and environment, see company policy if applicable.

  • Work schedule to be established with supervisor to ensure Company’s client and business needs are met
